Diagnose download and parsing failures
- Re-test the saved HTTPS or SFTP connection and verify hostname, remote path, credentials, and SFTP SHA-256 host-key fingerprint.
- Confirm the file is non-empty, below 25 MB, and no larger than 2,500 records.
- Set the exact CSV delimiter when the file appears as one column.
- For XML, confirm XMLReader/SimpleXML and the repeating element name; DTD/entity content is rejected.
- Confirm hosting permits outbound connections to the feed host.
Stop duplicate or all-new previews
If every record appears new, compare the permanent Source identifier and External ID mapping with the last successful configuration. Exact capitalization matters. Duplicate External IDs block the run because one feed record cannot own multiple vehicles.
Respond to unexpected missing vehicles
- Stop and preserve the preview.
- Compare received and valid counts with the last successful run.
- Confirm the provider sent a complete snapshot and the same Source identifier.
- Inspect rejections and duplicate IDs.
- Ask the provider about filters or export failures.
- Use Do nothing for intentionally partial sources.
Do not bypass the feed-count safety threshold until the reduction is verified.
Recover schedules and photos
For late schedules, confirm WP-Cron is enabled and configure a real server cron on low-traffic sites. Locks expire after 30 minutes following interruption.
For photos, confirm the queue state, cron execution, writable uploads, public HTTP/HTTPS image URLs, supported JPEG/PNG/WebP content, and the 10 MB image limit. Failed downloads retry three times; unchanged vehicle data can still requeue incomplete media work.
